21 Day Diet Detox, Day One

Day One

Its the end of the day and I am happy to say that it was a breeze!  There are many factors to why it was easy first being good planning.  

Last week I did a sort of soft start to juicing, smoothies and getting rid of the gunk in my diet.  By gunk I mean alcohol, gluten, dairy, processed foods, and sugar.  Monday to Friday I was very good.  I stopped drinking coffee and noticed a difference instantly in my sleep and anxiety level.  

What I found very interesting was on Friday I decided to have a glass of red wine and a few pieces of home made fudge and the results of having that little bit was a terrible nights sleep, trouble falling asleep, and my energy was totally zapped!  

I couldn't believe how much it effected me in such a negative way!  AND I hadn't even gotten to the point of totally taking everything negative out of my diet!  
So, yesterday I went through my fridge and made sure my veggies and fruits, seeds and nuts were all stocked up.  Here is what I ate today:

Hot water, lemon and cayenne pepper followed by Green Juice.  (cucumber, beets, carrots, ginger, tomato, apple and half a lemon)  This makes about 20 oz of juice which I sip in about 20 min.  So let me say this is better than a double shot of espresso!!  My energy shot through the roof, no spikes but just a steady high.  

It lasted til lunch which is when I had a green smoothie (romaine lettuce, spinach, avocado, pear, and strawberries)  I was starting to feel my energy dip (slightly) which was again spiked up after having the smoothie.

For a snack after I finished work I had chia seeds in almond milk and made a chick pea and lentil Dahl.  Lots of turmeric, curry and flavour!  
I just got back from teaching yoga and had a few grapes.  

I am not hungry at all!  I feel like a million bucks!  

Also I want to say this is not about losing weight.  If that happens well so be it but that is not my intention of this change.  The reason I am changing is due to feeling tired, looking tired, being bloated, poor digestion, feeling my skin changing.  These are the things I want to change.  This way of eating has incredibly positive changes for just about every illness that plaques us.  Heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, anxiety, stress.  The list goes on.
A very positive start!!!

I will keep everyone updated as the cleanse goes on.
